Recipes: Chai with turmeric

Ingredients:

  • 1 c full fat oat milk or other creamy non-dairy milk
  • 1 T maple syrup or coconut sugar
  • 1 c water
  • 1 t cloves
  • 1 t all spice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 cardamom pods, crushed with butt of a knife or mortar and pestle
  • 1 T ginger, minced
  • 1 T fresh turmeric, minced or ½ t dried turmeric
  • 2 bags English breakfast tea
  • ½ inch piece vanilla bean pod (optional)

Directions:

Pour oat milk and water in a small saucepan. Add T of sugar, stir until dissolved. Add spices, ginger, turmeric and vanilla bean pod (optional). Heat on medium heat until the milk/water mixture boils. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add tea bags and steep for 3 mins. Remove tea bags. Strain spices and pour into mug. Enjoy!
